There may not be any Green Bay Packers’ player that has received more fan buzz heading into this season, than third-year wide receiver Jeff Janis.
Throughout 2015, the call for Janis to get more opportunities grew stronger week-by-week, and eventually, out of necessity, head coach Mike McCarthy finally had to give him a shot, at receiver, not just one special teams, where Janis is an absolute beast.
Given a chance to finally make an impact in the playoff game against Arizona, Janis delivered with flying colors, putting together a memorable performance that included essentially two Hail-Mary receptions on the last game-tying drive.
This offseason, Janis has made a push to not only become a better player, but also to continue to develop a trust with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Throughout the summer, Rodgers had good things to say about Janis, as did McCarthy.
Now that training camp has started, the praise for Janis continues as Rodgers said following to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, who posted it on twitter.
#Packers QB Aaron Rodgers on Jeff Janis: “Jeff is bigger than he was last year, and playing bigger.” That’s a good first impression.

That’s a very good sign for Janis, but more importantly, it’s a good sign for the Packers. Janis is a speedy guy, but he’s big too. He’s built in a somewhat similar fashion to Nelson, a guy who has abused defenses with his lethal combo of size and speed for years.
Janis need to polish his route-running skills and develop a better connection with Rodgers and those are two things he looks to have done this offseason. Now, we will see if it pays off with him playing a crucial role on the offense during the 2016 season.
