The wait of Green Bay Packers fans for football is finally over. At least it will be Thursday night, when the Packers will do battle with the New England Patriots.
The first preseason game is always exciting and here are five things you should be looking for:
1. Young Cornerbacks:
We have heard nothing but good things about Damarious Randall, Quinton Rollins and LaDarius Gunter. Now, it’s time to see if they can do it in live game action.
2. Inside LB
Will Jake Ryan or Nate Palmer make a case for playing time. Can Carl Bradford give Green Bay a reason to keep him on the roster? That will be one of the big things I’ll be looking to see.
3. QB Play:
We don’t know if Aaron Rodgers will play yet, but even if he doesn’t, it will be interesting to see how Scott Tolzien and Brett Hundley perform with extended snaps. I expect a strong performance from Tolzien.
4. WR Battle 4-6
The battle at receiver at the end of the depth chart will be fascinating to watch. From Ty Montgomery to Myles White as well as Jeff Janis, the last three spots on the receiving depth chart will be hotly contested and plays in the preseason stick in the mind of coaches for a long time.
There are spots along the defensive line that are up for grabs, especially with Letry Guion and Datone Jones facing early season suspensions. Defensive lineman earn spots by making plays on game day and that’s what you want to see from Khyri Thorton, Mike Pennell and Christian Ringo do against the Pats.
