The Green Bay Packers are going to end up keeping six wide receivers on their final 53-man roster in 2015. And both Jeff Janis and Ty Montgomery will be among them.
Janis, who was on the roster a season ago, is continuing to impress after turning heads at OTA’s this week. And his development along with the addition of Ty Montgomery of Stanford in the third round of the draft and the healthy return of Jared Abbrederis might give Green Bay the deepest, most talented group of pass catchers in the NFL.
No wonder why Aaron Rodgers wants to play till he’s 40. He has more young talent to throw to then he could possibly know what to do with, and honestly –there probably won’t be enough footballs too go around.
Speaking of Montgomery, I haven’t been as excited about a prospect at receiver since Randall Cobb.
I love his versatility. He can play outside, inside in the slot and even at running back. He’s explosive and built like a running back. His combo of size and speed is impressive and heck, he averaged eight some yards per carry as a runner in college. He is a big-time, legitimate talent. And he is dynamite in the return game.
Montgomery will make an impact this season, as a receiver and return specialist, and Janis will also make a big leap in year two, making the receiver rich Packers — even richer.
