Greg Jennings Released, Should Return to Packers

You knew it was coming after the Minnesota Vikings traded for Mike Wallace and today it became official as Greg Jennings, the former Green Bay Packer, was given his release.

Now the big question is whether or not Green Bay would be interested in having the two-time Pro Bowler return to the Packers on a reduced contract.

The move would makes sense. After all, Jennings flourished in Green Bay. He is one of the franchises all-time leading receivers and won a Super Bowl ring in 2010.

Things did not go so well for Jennings in Minnesota and the former second-round pick had two sub 1,000 yard seasons. Yet, if Jennings were to come back to Green Bay, next to Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams, opposing defenses would have a lot of sleepless nights.

I don’t know if it will happen or not, but if the price is right it seems to make a lot of sense. Jennings left the Packers for money but he might be interested in leaving money on the table to win another championship, which sounds like a good deal for the Packers. Or at least one that’s worth giving serious consideration.

There’s just no place for him on this team. Maybe #6 wide receiver behind Jeff Janis and Aberderis? Inactive on game day? But that takes away an opportunity for another young player. For the #6 role, they’re better off taking a shot on a young player in the draft.

Are you kidding me? This guy trashed the Packer Organization, Aaron Rodgers and the city of Green Bay on his way out the door. Remember how he said you get ” brainwashed ” by the Packer organization? You can’t even consider bringing a jerk like that back. He got what he deserved.

For me, re-signing Greg Jennings would hamper the development of Davante Adams and signal there’s no place on the team for Jared Abbrederis. I would not want to see either outcome.

Why would the Packers want to have back someone who had his sister write disparaging emails about the team and Rodgers? Then, once Jennings was in MN he talked about Favre but wouldn’t even say Rodgers’ name. Why would Thompson want that in his locker room?

Jennings was fine in locker room before. Green Bay has a strong locker room. That wouldn’t be an issue. But there are some hard feelings. But if he was willing to take a low money deal. I’d do it.

I for one would welcome him back. (Is Woodson available, too? I miss those picks…)

Woodson should play as long as he’s health and wants to play football. I hated that we released him, and I would love to have him back, but if we can’t use him then he should play for the team that wants him.
