Packers: Why A Super Bowl Title is Possible for Green Bay

It has been a wild season for the Green Bay Packers–but one thing we can be sure of at this point, the team formerly known as the Acme Packers has what it takes to win it all in 2014.

It’s not a prediction or a guarantee. At this point the Packers aren’t even guaranteed of making the playoffs but there is no question that when a list of Super Bowl contenders is comprised–Green Bay is at the top of list.

There are many reasons why. The Packers have tremendous leadership and are an extremely stable organization with the head coach and general manager together for a ninth straight season.

Ted Thompson is a genius. He is a tremendous scout and his moves from the off season are all paying off–Julius Peppers, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Corey Linsley, Letroy Guion, Richard Rodgers, Davante Adams…the list goes on and on.

Mike McCarthy is a great coach too. Scratch that. He’s a helluva coach. One of the best in pro football. He’s won a championship, five division titles and just beat Bill Belichick.

But even though Thompson and McCarthy are a huge reason for the Packers success—at the end of the day, it’s still all about Aaron Rodgers.

TT and MM at least get credit for drafting and developing Rodgers but they can’t take credit for the truly transcendent player he has become.

Rodgers is the best quarterback–no, the best player in football. His stats are ridiculous and at home he’s not only nearly unbeatable, he’s flawless. No interceptions at home since 2012…that’s special.  In fact–it’s outright ridiculous.

Rodgers isn’t the only reason Green Bay has its sights set on a fifth Lombardi Trophy. Peppers, Clay Matthews, Mike Daniels and a much better than expected Packers defense is another one. The outstanding play of the o-line is another. Plus the truly great play from Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, as well as the tough running of Eddy Lacy.

Right now, the Packers are running on all cylinders and there are a lot of reasons why, but chief among them–is
Rodgers under center.

So get set to enjoy a great close the 2014 season. And in addition to those wishes, I want to let you know the blog is back up and you can once again expect register posts from the Packers Guru.
