Green Bay Packers 53-Man Roster Projection: Preseason Update

Now that the Green Bay Packers are halfway through their preseason schedule and we have gotten a chance to better evaluate each player and the Packers roster as a whole — it’s a perfect time to reevaluate the 53-man roster projection.

Since my last projection, two players that made my roster have gone down to injury — Jared Abbrederis and Don Barclay. That has shaken things up a bit as have performances throughout two preseason games and training camp.

Therefore, without further ado, here is the Packers Guru 53-man roster projection:

QBs (3) – Aaron Rodgers, Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien.

RBs (4) – Eddie Lacy, James Starks, DuJuan Harris, John Kuhn.

WRs (5) – Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Jarrett Boykin, Davante Adams, Jeff Janis.

TEs (4) – Andrew Quarless, Richard Rodgers, Brandon Bostick, Ryan Taylor.

OL (8) – Bryan Bulaga, David Bahktiari, J.C. Tretter, Josh Sutton, T.J. Lang, Lane Taylor, Derrick Sherrod, Corey Linsley.

DL (6) – B.J. Raji, Mike Daniels, Datone Jones, Josh Boyd, Khyri Thorton, Mike Pennel.

LBs (10) – Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers, Mike Neal, Nick Perry, Brad Jones, A.J. Hawk, Jamari Lattimore, Sam Barrington, Jayrone Elliot, Andy Mulumba.

DBs (10) – Sam Shields, Tramon Williams, Casey Hayward, Morgan Burnett, Micah Hyde, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Davon House, Jarrett Bush, Sean Richardson, Demetri Goodson.

So did Adams lose his shot on the Online Saturday.

    • I don’t think so. He still has a chance just got exposed. I think he needs to play consistently well these next two weeks and he will have a chance. At worst he should be on practice squad. Keeping three tackles, two with injury history is risky so he has a chance if he can be consistent.

From the list of 53…I have three different choices. Number one, they keep only two QBs, not three. That leaves an extra slot at LB…Where they will keep Nate Palmer over Bradford (PS). Lastly, I believe Banjo makes the roster over Goodson (PS). Other players headed to the Practice Squad are Myles White, Chris Harper, Kevin Dorsey, Jumal Rolle, Adams, Fullington, Rajion Neal, and Jake Stoneburner. I know I will not get all ten of these correct, but, maybe six. Lastly, there is an outside shot Stoneburner makes the 53 instead of Ryan Taylor.

        • Actually I agree with you on banjo. He Will make due to work on special teams. If they do keep just 2 qbs palmer has a good chance and I do like stoneburner with bostick injury and him potentially going on pup stoneburners chances got better. I’d be surprised if they cut Taylor though he is valuable on special teams. But I think you are right on the mark with your PS picks.
